Exercise is Medicine on Campus
Illinois State University’s Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIMOC) program is a referral-based program that provides ISU students with opportunities for private, individualized physical activity training and programming developed and implemented by faculty and graduate students in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation. The School of Kinesiology and Recreation, Campus Recreation, Health Promotion and Wellness, Student Counseling Services, and Student Health Services all work together in order to provide unique and personalized physical activity opportunities for referred students.
To participate in the program, undergraduate or graduate students must be referred by ISU’s Student Health Services or Student Counseling Services. Once referred, students will be contacted by EIMOC staff and participate in an intake session where goals, barriers, interests, and current physical activity levels will be assessed. Referred students will then be paired with a School of KNR trainer for physical activity sessions (typically twice a week for approximately 8 weeks) and have access to other optional resources as part of the program, including health coaching sessions and open lab sessions. Training sessions occur in the private Exercise Physiology Fit Lab in 177 McCormick Hall. This program is free.
ISU’s EIMOC program takes the vision of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Exercise is Medicine on Campus initiative and applies it to Illinois State University's campus. Our program has been recognized by the ACSM at the highest level – the Gold level -since 2016. For more information, please visit our website at School of Kinesiology and Recreation
